Understanding Gold:
Your Guide to Quality
Gold comes in various forms, each with its own unique qualities. In my shop, I use only high-quality 14k gold-filled material to ensure durability and long-lasting beauty.
To help you understand what sets gold-filled apart, here’s a quick guide to the different types of gold. Each option offers its own balance of durability, appearance, and value—so you can confidently find the perfect fit for your collection.
-
Solid Gold
Entirely made of gold, with no other metals mixed in.
✦
Highly durable and resistant to tarnishing or discoloration; can last for generations.
-
Gold-Filled
Brass or copper covered with a thick layer of gold, making up 5% of the total weight.
✦
Created through heat and pressure bonding.✦
Resistant to tarnishing, chipping, and fading, making it suitable for everyday wear. -
Gold Vermeil
Sterling silver coated with a thick 2.5-micron layer of gold.
✦
Applied through electroplating.✦
Can maintain its appearance for a long time but may wear off over time. -
Gold-Plated
Brass or copper coated with a thin layer of gold.
✦
Applied through electroplating.✦
Can wear off easily over time.

Why 14k Gold-Filled Stands Out?
Gold-filled material contains a thick layer of real 14k gold, making up at least 5% of the total metal weight. This is much higher than gold-plated, so you get the look and feel of solid gold at a more accessible price.
